Master of Social Science (Research)

MASTER OF SOCIAL SCIENCE  (Full-Time)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• A Bachelor's degree with a CGPA of 3.00/4 or equivalent in a related field.
• Any Bachelor's degree with working experience related to the field of study.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must fulfil the following language requirements:

• Malaysian Citizens: Pass in Bahasa Malaysia at the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level.
• Foreign Citizens: Pass an English Proficiency Test such as IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Cambridge English, Linguaskill Online, or MUET, with a minimum score as determined by the University.

Candidates who are unable to provide proof of these requirements must attain the qualification through study during the candidature period.

PERIOD OF CANDIDATURE

The period of full-time candidature is not less than 12 months and shall not exceed 36 months.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should possess the following:

• A Bachelor's degree with a CGPA of 3.00/4 or equivalent in a related field.
• Any Bachelor's degree with relevant working experience in the field of study (more than 1 year).

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

(Applicable for International Applicants Only)

• A minimum of Band 5 for IELTS; or
• A minimum score of 40 for TOEFL (Internet-based); or
• A minimum of Band 7.5 for TOEFL Essentials (Online); or
• A minimum score of 154 for Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)/Proficiency (CPE) /Preliminary (PET) /First (FCE)/ Linguaskill Online min. score 154; or
• A minimum score of 47 for the Pearson Test of English (PTE); or
• A minimum of Band 107 for CIEP Level (ELS); or
• A minimum of Band 3.5 for the Malaysian University English Test (MUET).

Exemption is given to the candidate if:

• English is the candidate’s mother tongue or national language; or
• The candidate graduated from an institution of higher learning where the medium of instruction for the Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree was English (statement of proof required).

MASTER OF SOCIAL SCIENCE  (Part-Time)

Requirements for a part-time Master of Social Science degree are similar to those of full-time candidates. The programme structure is also similar except for the period of candidature and residency requirements. The period of candidacy for a part-time candidate is a minimum of 24 months and a maximum of 72 months.
